    In October 2018, Vienna will host two outstanding workshops with Manju Pattabhi Jois, a two-week Teacher Training and, in parallel, an Ashtanga Intensive Training

    These workshops with Manju Jois - extraordinary and unique for facilitating a two-week learning curve - are appropriate for practitioners seeking to deepen their own Ashtanga practice & Yoga philosophy as well as for Yoga teachers or teachers in training.
    Manju's teaching carries on the ancient Ashtanga tradition, which implies working closely with students and establishing a space for the communication of individual topics and questions. In all his classes, Manju Jois incorporates Pranayama and Vedic chanting hand in hand with Ashtanga Yoga practice. Natasa Cvetkovic will assist the process and provide individual guidance for participants both in class and online.

    The daily Program of the Yoga Workshops 3.10. - 16.10.2018:
    8 - 9.30 (on weekend 9 -10.30) MYSORE (Teacher & Intensive Training students) Each class will consist of self-practice where Manju will work closely with you giving safe adjustments. The begin of the Ashtanga Mysore Style practice will be arraged. Drop in is for those with etstablished Mysore practice possible.
    10 - 11 (on weekend 10 - 11.00) Teacher Training Topics (Teacher Training students) After a break Manju demonstrates and comments the essential adjustments concerning the asana (All Series) and different students, as well theiir therapeuctic aspects - a lot of space to understand the “safe adjustment”. Theory.
    11.00 - 12.00 (on weekend 12 - 13.00) PRACTICE - supervisefd teaching practice (Teacher Training students) The students practice teaching under the supervision of Manju - he is giving suggestions, corrections and answers questions.
    12.00 - 12.30 (on weekend 13 - 14.00) Yoga Theory & Philosophy (Teacher & Intensive Training students) Finally Manju will lead the group through pranayama and mantra chanting. Manju will answer your questions here and we will have the chance to discuss those issues which occure in the course of the training: Ayurveda, Pranayama, Chanting, other FAQ.
  • Teacher Training OVERVIEW

    The Teacher Training is recomanded for practicioners, ongoing teachers and Ashtanga Yoga teachers.

  • When you complete this course, you will be prepared to continue the art of learning along this ancient path. In order to achieve teaching competence, one needs to practice over a long time The Teacher Training is geared at those who already conceptualize and carry out classes in the Ashtanga Vinyasa system. Over 12 days, we will work together to adjust levels and provide the space students need to engage with individual topics or issues.

    Join a comprehensive program

    Vinyasa counts and technical foundation and adjustment & observation for key Asanas of the primary Series (also other Ashtanga Series) in their original context. This workshop should be an in-depth encounter with this system.
    During the workshops, Ashtanga Yoga Vienna will provide eLearning content and an online platform exclusively available to students. This pool of material is based on the original Ashtanga system including guidelines on the postures themselves, definitions of elementary Sanskrit and Ayurveda terminology, advice on frequently occurring medical aspects, nutritional guidelines or pedagogic and therapeutic issues. In addition, and to assure a resilient quality standard in the interplay between theory & practice, we will create and share workshop material such as core moments of classes, photos and videos. The whole collaborative processes will be based on individual students’ questions and four or five group discussions.

  • Education & Certification: Over five continents, and for almost half a century, Manju Pattabhi Jois has been committing himself to the knowledge transfer of the Ashtanga Yoga system. Its tradition was re-established in the early 20th century by his father, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009), as represented by the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute or AYRI in Mysore, India. Together, they have established a certification procedure granting an official authorization for teachers of Ashtanga Yoga. Listed under until 2009, the Jois’ family agreed to continue the listing on By the end of the workshop, students will be issued a “European Academy of Ashtanga Yoga – Ashtanga Yoga Vienna- Certificate of Participation”. They are expected to tutor exercises such as asana and pranayama in the traditional way, applying Sanskrit commands, verbal and hands-on adjustments as well as fundamental therapeutic asana, pranayama exercises and chants.

    Intensive Training is also recomanded for practicioners, ongoing teachers and Ashtanga Yoga teachers.

  • The methodology and philosophy of Ashtanga practice play an incremental part in deepening one’s individual practice. They build the foundation of the yogi’s journey. We will therefore delve into details of the Ashtanga Yoga method, Yoga philosophy and Ayurveda


    Manju has great knowledge and experience in the teaching of Ashtanga Yoga. Through his humor and his understanding of Western lifestyle and thinking Manju can establish the connection between the culture of the East and of the West in a simple way. His story of the migration of yoga to the West and its development has witnessed Manju. (It offers a special opportunity to ask questions for all audiences.) It is one of the few occasions to experience Manju P. Jois personally and to participate in the ensuing discussion.

  • About Manju P. Jois

    Manju P. Jois is the oldest son of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, the foremost authority on Ashtanga Yoga. For the last 56 years Manju has been continuously teaching the traditions of authentic Indian style throughout the world. He is teaching the powerful healing elements and techniques that make up the Ashtanga system, including a series of asanas (postures) known as The Primary Series or Yoga Chikitsa (Yoga Healing), as well as Vedic peace chants (Shanthi Mantras). The students will benefit from the traditional system by using the original Sanskrit.


    Manju P. Jois is an inspirational teacher, understanding the western humour and lifestyle and still teaching in traditional way. His Vedic Chants, Mudra and Pranayama teachings transform the practice of Asana. The teacher trainings offer space for many questions and answers.


    Manju and his father Pattabhi Jois met the children of Flower Power in in 1974 in California. They gave many Yoga Demonstrations and spread the Yoga Spirit. Patthabi Jois returned soon to teach in India, where his students have been waiting for him. Manju decided to stay in US and continue teaching with the blessing of his father. The last 40 years of Yoga brought many Yoga Styles and Yoga Lifestyle, many of them are ashtanga vinyasa based. Manju continues his worldwide teaching in tradition of his teacher and father Pattahabi Jois.
